I Reader It's been a little while since I've checked in, and I wanted to share some exciting things that have been happening in my writing journey! If there's one thing I've learned, it's that being a writer requires patience, persistence, and a whole lot of faith. Some days, I feel like I'm making progress. Other days, I wonder if I'm getting anywhere at all. But through it all, I've continued showing up for myself and my craft. And recently, that persistence paid off! 🎉 My creative nonfiction piece, “$788,” won the WriterAdvice Latest Contest! This was such a meaningful moment for me. Every time I submit my writing, I'm putting a piece of myself out into the world without knowing how it will be received. Having my work recognized reminds me that my words have a place, even when the journey feels uncertain. Read “$788” here: [Insert direct link to your winning piece] But that's not all! ✨ I was also recently invited to share my story with VoyageLA magazine for its Inspiring Stories series! The interview gave me an opportunity to reflect on my journey as an author and the story behind my bracelet business, SUNSHINE & LIGHT. Both are meaningful parts of my creative journey, and I loved having the opportunity to talk about what inspired them, the challenges I've faced, and why I continue to pursue my passions. I'm excited about this opportunity and can't wait to share the published interview with you! Another project I'm excited about is my work with Recovery Diaries. I've been finalizing my draft for Recovery Diaries, a publication that creates space for honest conversations about mental health and recovery. This piece is especially meaningful to me because it allows me to use my voice to explore experiences that aren't always easy to put into words. I'm looking forward to seeing it come together and eventually sharing it with you. Behind the scenes, I've also been working on new essays, submitting to literary publications, and continuing to build my writing career. Some doors have opened, others have closed, but I haven't stopped trying. And that's something I'm learning to celebrate, too. I'm not exactly where I want to be yet, but I'm no longer where I started. To everyone who has purchased one of my books, read my work, subscribed to my emails, or simply encouraged me along the way, thank you for being part of my journey. There's still so much I want to accomplish, and I'm looking forward to bringing you along for what's next. Until next time, keep believing in the things that matter to you, even when progress feels slow. 💛 With love, Sascha Ealey |
I have a little writing update to share. 🥹 My essay, “The Day I Stopped Calling Myself an Aspiring Writer,” has officially been accepted for publication this fall. 🍂 And this one feels especially meaningful. For so long, I called myself an aspiring writer—as if I needed one more byline, one more acceptance, one more person to give me permission before I could claim the word writer for myself. But somewhere along the way, I realized: I’m not aspiring to write. I write. I submit. I get...
It’s that time of year again—applications, deadlines, and the essay that feels like it has to say everything in just a few paragraphs. I know how stressful that can feel for students (and families). That’s why I’m opening space to help with college admissions essays. ✨ What I offer: Guidance on finding the right story that stands out (not a cliché) Personalized feedback to strengthen the essay’s voice and clarity Line-by-line edits to make the essay polished, powerful, and authentic...
